My main area of interest is how to incorporate usability engineering techniques into software testing. However, I am also very interested in the governance issues associated with testing.

I have written two articles for T.E.S.T magazine. One was a cover story for the September 2009 edition on the troubled relationship between the user experience profession and software engineering, and how Agile can bridge the gap.

The second article was a lead opinion piece, published in September 2009, on the front page of the T.E.S.T website about how testers should be considered as developers.

I have also written articles for Testing Experience magazine on the limitations of the V Model, about the relationship between offshore development and usability, the justification for testing standards (in particular IEEE 829 and the need to produce documentation) and about business logic security testing. The last article has also appeared in Security Acts magazine.

The latest article was in the Software Testing Club Magazine, about how traditional techniques and rigid processes can demotivate staff.

I addition to writing I have been undertaking study and research to improve my knowledge and skills. I have also been carrying out work for the charity of which I am a trustee.
